Mike Shopping Mall

Located along the Beach Road, the Mike Shopping Mall is one of the oldest shopping malls in Pattaya. Although it was established in the early 1990's and many newer, larger and modern shopping centers have been opened, it’s still one of the city's most popular malls and attracts a lot customers, especially because the products available here are almost always on sale. Located between Soi 11 and Soi 12, the shopping mall occupies almost the entire block from Pattaya Beach Road to Pattaya 2nd Road and can be accessed from either side. While the beach front side of the mall has recently received a facelift to a modern looking façade, the back of the building facing Second Road reveals its age. The layout of Mike Shopping mall is different than other malls in the city, as it is actually one giant department store that extends over five floors and resembles, on a smaller scale, the huge and famous MBK Shopping Mall in Bangkok. While fashion and accessories are by far the most popular items on offer at mall, there is actually a variety of items on sale, including technology, handicrafts, souvenirs and home furnishings. Mike Shopping mall combines the air-conditioned environment of big shopping centres with the excellent prices of street markets. The first floor features numerous small stalls, right next to each other, offering a wide choice of shoes, clothes and accessories for men, women, and children. There is a selection of smaller brand stores such as Maybelline, Nike, Lee, Levi’s and Pierre Cardin, but most vendors sell unbranded or copied clothing. The 2nd and 3rd floors host men’s and women’s clothing. The selection includes everything from casual wear to business attire. The 4th floor of the mall is dedicated to handicrafts and souvenirs, including OTOP products. “One Tambon One Product” is a nationwide project launched by the Thai government in 2001 to promote the products made by local communities. There is also a Mini-Mart on the floor, although it is a very unusual location for a grocery store. On the top floor of Mike Shopping Mall you will find Food Paradise, the mall’s food court. It is a large space with plenty of seating and the large glass windows provide a panoramic view. But, the food selection is fairly small with around 10 food stalls offering some quick and easy dishes like noodle soup and papaya salad for around 50/70 baht. Uniquely amongst the shopping options in Pattaya, Mike Shopping Mall has a rooftop pool which is available for public use for a small fee, about 100 Baht. The pool features a nice layout with sunbeds, waterslide and several large open pavilions to get some shade from the hot sun. You can order food and drink, mainly Thai cuisine but a few Western dishes, from the front desk.
Opening time: Mike Shopping Mall is open daily from 10.00 until 23.00.
How to get there: the shopping mall is located on the Beach Road between Soi 11 & Soi 12, so it is very convenient for anyone staying in Central or South Pattaya.
