Krabi is one of the most popular seaside resorts in Thailand. Located 783 km south of Bangkok, the town lies upstream of mouth of Krabi River that empty into Phang Nga Bay. Less commercialized than neighbouring Phuket, Krabi receives over two million visitors a year attracted primarily by its relaxed and calm atmosphere, but also because the whole province is considered a small unspoiled gem on the Andaman Sea. The distinguishing feature of region is the imposing solitary limestone peaks rising dramatically out, both in the paddy fields as in the middle of the sea. Krabi is the perfect jumping off point to reach other gems scattered along the coasts on the Andaman Sea, like the fantastic Phi Phi Islands or Koh Lanta. Regular ferry services connect Krabi to Phi Phi Islands and Phuket throughout the year. In high season, from 1st November to late April, other several private companies operate boat services connecting Krabi to Koh Lanta, Koh Kradam, Koh Ngai and even the furthermost Koh Lipe and Langkawi in Malaysia. There are three main piers in Krabi: the Noppharat Thara Pier located west of Noppharat Thara Beach in Ao Nang, the Jilad Klong Pier, sets at mouth of Krabi River just 4 km south of the city center, and the pier situated in the beautiful Railay Peninsula. For accuracy, in Railay there are two piers, the one located in West Railay Beach operates in the high season, between November-April, while the Floating Pier located in East Railay operates in low season, between May-October. Krabi International Airport is located 15 km from the centre of Krabi and 40 km from Ao Nang. There is an air-conditioned bus service connecting the airport to Krabi, Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara Pier. The rates are 90 THB to Krabi and 150 THB to Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara. From the arrivals terminal you can reach Krabi or Ao Nang with taxi and limousine service, the cost is 500 THB to Krabi and 800 THB to Ao Nang. The economic song-thaews pass on the main road, outside the airport, and allow reaching Krabi with a modest price of 30-50 THB.
Krabi Provincial Transport Station is the main bus station in Krabi province. It is located in Tambon Pak Nam, near the Ban Talat Kao Food & Market, about 4 km from the center of Krabi Town. The terminal is the point of arrival and departure of almost all long-distance buses, from Bangkok and neighbouring provinces, as well as all minivans from and to seaside resorts in Southern Thailand. The terminal is well served by public transport of Krabi, taxis, minibuses and song-thaews. Taxis, local buses and minibus to Ao Nang or Krabi Town leave directly from the terminal. The song-thaews are in continuous transit or are parked on the main road near the terminal. Ferry services from Krabi to Phi Phi Don
Ferry services connect Krabi to Phi Phi Don throughout the year. Ferries leave daily from all piers in Krabi and reach both piers on Phi Phi Don: the Ton Sai Pier located in the main village and Laem Tong Pier on northernmost tip of island. Ferry services from Krabi to Koh Lanta
Regular ferry services connect Krabi to Koh Lanta during the high season, from November to late April. Ferries leave daily from Klong Jilad Pier, Nopparat Thara Pier and the small pier in Railay reaching Saladan Pier in about 2 hours. Saladan Pier is the Koh Lanta's main pier. It is located in the northernmost tip of Koh Lanta Yai in a small harbour town which is full of quaint cafes, great seafood restaurants and local souvenir shops. The Andaman Route from Phuket to Koh Lipe
From 1st November to 1st May, you can travel from Phuket to Koh Lipe through Phi Phi Islands, and vice versa, without ever setting foot on land. Tigerline Ferry operates a daily ferry from Rassada Pier in Phuket, leaving at 08:00 and stopping at Phi Phi Don, Koh Lanta, Koh Ngai, Koh Kradan, Koh Mook and Had Yao Pier in Trang, before reaching Koh Lipe at 16:00; the boat leaves Koh Lipe at 10:00 for the return trip. For tourists staying in Krabi the company offers a combo-ticket to reach the small pristine island, which consists of a minibus service to the Had Yao Pier in Trang and then the ferry to Koh Lipe. Minibuses depart from Ao Nang at 9.00, 10.00 from Krabi Town and at 10.30 from the Krabi International Airport.
