Eastern Bus Terminal Bangkok
The Eastern Bus Terminal, better known as Ekkamai, is one of three bus terminal in centre of Bangkok. The terminal is located on Sukhumvit Road in the Ekkamai Area, from which it takes its name, between Soi 40 and Soi 42, opposite to Soi 63. It is a small and well organized bus station that serves the eastern provinces of Thailand. Ekkamai is easily accessible by public transport from all areas of the capital, thanks especially to the adjacent Ekkamai Skytrain Station. The Skytrain, also known as BTS is an elevated railway that allows quick travel within the capital. Skytrain is also connected to the Suvarnabhumi Airport with the Airport Rail Link, ARL, the system of express link from Suvarnabhumi to the centre of Bangkok, which ends at Phaya Thai Skytrain Station. Inside the small edifice there are 29 ticket counters, all the departures are in the back of building, where are also some small stalls selling drinks and snacks. There are about 10 different bus companies operating from the Eastern Bus Terminal, private and the Government Company, with bus or minibus to the Eastern provinces, such as Aranyaprathet, at border with Cambodia, Chonburi, Pattaya, Sattahip, Rayong-Bangphe, where depart ferries to Koh Samet, Chanthaburi, Trat and Laem Ngop the pier for island of Koh Chang. There are two categories of buses that depart from Ekkamai, the "Standard One", which provide a direct service without stops to destination, and the "Standard Two" which makes stops during the trip, and does not use the highway. The Standard Two is less expensive, but clearly it takes more time to arrive at your destination.
