South Pattaya
South Pattaya - Pattaya Tai (พัทยาใต้)
South Pattaya (Pattaya Tai) is not the southern-most part of Pattaya, as Pratumnak Hill and then Jomtien lie further south, but the section of the city adjacent to the southern end of Pattaya Beach and extending inland to both the north and south of South Pattaya Road (Thanon Pattaya Tai). It includes Pattayaland and world-famous Walking Street. Closed to vehicles in the evening, this 800-meter stretch of Beach Road (Thanon Hat Pattaya) is one of Pattaya's main tourist areas, both for nightlife and shopping with plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs, discotheques, beer and go-go bars open until late at night. There are also shopping centres, bazaars, hotels with reasonable prices scattered all along Pattaya Second Road and South Pattaya Road, as well as in the small sois of Beach Road. Pratumnak Hill is on the south side of Pattaya and is popular for its viewpoints and the Wat Phra Yai with its large golden Buddha image on the hill top. Pattaya Park and Pattaya Tower are at the south end of Pratumnak Hill. In recent years, Pratumnak has gained in popularity because of its more natural environment, nicer beaches, and its convenient location between Jomtien and Pattaya City.
