Sanctuary of Truth or Wihan Sajjadham is a huge all-wood temple situated on the seashore at Ratchawet Cape in Tambon Naklua, North Pattaya, Chonburi Province. The impressive construction covers an area of more than two rais, 3,200 sq. meters, with the top point at about 105 meters high. The shrine was constructed according to ancient Thai ingenuity in woodworking and every square inch of the building is covered with wooden carve sculpture based on traditional Buddhist and Hindu motifs. The project was initiated as an idea of Thai businessman Lek Viriyaphant in 1981, and is scheduled to be complete in 2050. The style of the sanctuary evokes Khmer architecture, displaying hand-carved wooden sculptures indicative of the imperial setting at Angkor. It has four gopura, respectively representing images from the Buddhist and Hindu religions and mythologies of Cambodia, China, India and Thailand. The purposes of decoration with wooden carve sculptures are to use art and culture as the reflection of Ancient Vision of Earth, Ancient Knowledge, and Eastern Philosophy. Within this complex, visitors will understand Ancient Life, Human Responsibility, Basic Thought, Cycle of living, Life Relationship with Universe and Common Goal of Life toward Utopia.
Admission fee & Opening hours: The shrine is open daily from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm. Entrance fee is 500 baht for adults, 250 baht for children.
Getting there: The temple is situated on the seashore at Ratchawet Cape in Tambon Naklua, about 6 km north of Pattaya city. The best way to get there is by the local songthaew that can be rented as a taxi. Before leaving, make sure you agree on the price.Read More
