Bo Phut Bay lies on Samui's north coast, between Mae Nam and Bangrak, just 5 km west of International Airport. Enclosed between two small promontories, the half-moon shaped bay is long about 3 km and boasts a beautiful white sandy beach. The coastline is lined by lush vegetation, mostly palm trees, and is divided into two distinct areas. A good part of the coast near the east promontory houses the well-known Fisherman’s Village, while the 2 km long beach extends from the end of village until the west promontory. The crystal clear water facing the beach is calm almost all year round and is suitable for all water activities like snorkeling and diving, kayaking, sailing, water skiing and jet-sky. A large number of bars and restaurants are located along the beach, where you can drink a cocktail or taste delicious seafood dishes enjoying the beautiful view of nearby Koh Phangan. Bo Phut Beach offers also a wide range of hotels and resorts, especially high-end. This beach is very popular among tourists who love its quiet atmosphere, more familiar and pleasant than the bustling Chaweng Beach.
Fisherman’s Village in Bo Phut is one of Koh Samui's most popular attractions, and perhaps one of the oldest settlements on the island. It is made up of several old wooden houses in Chinese style, used as houses and shops, blended with other more modern but not invasive buildings. The village has a particular charm resembling the Mediterranean style, probably due to the fact that it was the main French outpost on the island in the past. On the main street that crosses the village, there are several boutiques selling high quality clothing and jewellery, local handicraft shops, several stalls selling street foods and fruit juices, as well as a number of restaurants where you can enjoy excellent fresh fish dishes. There are also some dive centers offering scuba lessons or day trips to the best diving sites around Samui, like Sail Rock, Koh Tao and Ang Thong Marine Park. This mix of traditional and modern makes the village a very charming place that worth a visit. Fisherman’s Village is open from 10am to late in the night.
