Lonely Beach

At the beginning of Koh Chang tourism Lonely Bay was, and is still, the preferred destination for backpacker tourists. Located about 20 km south of Ao Sapparot Pier, Lonely Beach, known by local as Had Tha Nam, offers fewer facilities than the most renowed beaches located further north, but there are anyway some resorts, bungalows, restaurants and bars and even a lively nightlife. With frequent parties in the bars and on the beach, it is probably the most lively in Koh Chang. The beach itself is not very big but very nice and quiet. The shore is made up of sand in the north stretch, while the southern part is in small rounded pebbles. The entire beach is encircled by palm trees with large shady areas, ideal for families or for those seeking relaxation, and offers a spectacular view over small islands situated in front. The beach accommodations are limited to some lower and medium price resorts that provide deckchairs and beach towels for guests. Facing the beach, there are several cafes, bars and restaurants offering a fish menu, many of these facilities belong to resorts. Along the stretch of the coastal road crossing Lonely Bay there are other groups of bungalows, a couple of mini markets, some ATMs and several small shops.
