Talat Phlu BTS Station is a skytrain station on the Silom Line in Thon Buri District, on the Chao Phraya River's west bank. The station is located on Ratchaphruek Road surrounded by residences, small shops and office towers, and mainly serves locals who live, work and study in this area. At first, before the construction, the station was named Ratchaphruek Station but, just built, it was changed into Talat Phlu Station to avoid confusion with the nearby Ratchapruek BRT terminus station. The BRT is the Bangkok's bus rapid transit system, which has not been a great success. Of five routes that were originally planned, only the line that has its terminus here has been operating since 2010. Due to low ridership and financial losses, the system will be cancelled at the end of April 2017. The Talat Phlu area is well known locally for its abundance of excellent street food options mostly centred on Thoet Thai Road Soi 18 and Soi 25.
