Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World, formerly Siam Ocean World, is a large aquarium in the centre of Bangkok. Located two storeys underneath the Siam Paragon Mall, it is the largest in South East Asia and covers approximately 10,000 square meters. The fish tanks of this underground aquarium contain about 5,000,000 litres of water with over 30,000 marine creatures divided into hundreds of different species from various aquatic regions across the globe, including sharks, stingrays, penguins, sea horses, colourful corals and tropical fish. Sea Life Ocean World provides entertainment and education to visitors, a memorable experience for the whole family and a chance to see thousands of fish and other marine life in an air conditioned environment, very easy to reach due to its location in the centre of Bangkok. The aquarium is divided in sections, each with a different theme, next to the fish tanks are information boards in Thai and English. The journey into the Ocean World begins with the visit to the first exhibits at the Weird & Wonderful zone, which houses an impressive collection of rare and bizarre marine creatures, like Striped Frogfish, Garden Eel, Octopuses and gigantic Spider Crabs. At Deep Reef zone the visitors can admire some of the most fascinating reef dwellers in the world, such as Bat fish, orange and white Clownfish, Maori Wrasse and the venomous Lionfish, while the exhibit Seahorse Kingdom features several colourful species of Seahorses. Going further you can admire the Tropical Rainforest, a zone looking like a lush jungle with waterfalls and hosts several species from the Amazon rainforest including Arapaima, the largest freshwater fish in the world. The Ice Adventure and Rocky Shore areas are dedicated to the fantastic world of penguins. Between ice and snow can be admired the Gentoo Penguin, a small species of penguins that live in Antarctica and on many sub-Antarctic islands, while the African Penguin, also known as the Jackass Penguin, can be seen at the Rocky Shore. The Ocean Tunnel is the Ocean World’s most popular exhibit. The 270-degree underwater tunnel is the Asia's largest panoramic aquarium, which gives one the feeling of walking on the Deep Blue of an ocean. Walk through a glass tunnel admiring several species of Sharks, Stingrays, giant Groupers and schools of tropical fish is an unforgettable experience. Just beyond is the Shark Walk, a basin with a transparent floor allowing you to see several species of reef sharks, like Leopard Shark, Sand Tiger Shark, Whitespotted Bamboo Shark and Blacktip Shark. At the end of the walk through the marine world is the Sea Jellies area, where translucent Jellyfish float inside several LED-light aquarium tanks. In addition to the fish tanks, at Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World there are other several activities and experiences to enjoy, suitable for both adults and children. Children will love the Feeding Shows offered throughout the day at various areas, like Penguin Feeding, Shark Feeding, Rocky Shore Talk and Rainforest Zone Feeding. You can even feed giant freshwater fish, as the Chao Phraya Stingray and Mekong Giant Catfish, at the Feeding Pier in the Tropical Rainforest. You can walk in the underwater tunnel among sharks, stingrays and tropical fish with a diving suit and 180-degree helmet, accompanied by a trainer, or take a closer look to the marine creatures from a glass-bottom boat. At the 4D Cinema the visitors can enjoy a 25-minute virtual reality adventure with the Sanyo 4D-Xventure, which consists in a 4D movie about people on an island inhabited by dinosaurs and a dive into a virtual underwater world.
