National Stadium BTS Station is the first and northernmost skytrain station on the Silom Line, the Dark Green Line, in Pathum Wan District. Known by locals as Sanam Kila Haeng Chat, the station is located on Rama I Road to the west of Pathum Wan Junction, close to National Stadium. The large stadium, which can be seen from the BTS station, was used to host the Asian Games on three separate occasions; however, after the construction of the larger and new Rajamangala Stadium in Bang Kapi, it is generally used for football matches and athletic events. A skybridge that overlook the busy Pathumwan junction connects the station directly to Bangkok's Art and Culture Centre, MBK Center, Siam Discovery Center and Siam Square. A little further away are the luxurious Siam Center and Siam Paragon malls. Jim Thompson House, namely, the popular Thai silk museum of Jim Thompson that is just opposite the station, on Soi Kasemsan 2.
