Located in the middle of Samui's north coast, Mae Nam is a nice village with wooden houses older more than 60 years, where you will find shops of all kinds, massages centres, pharmacies, ATMs, mini markets and several good seafood restaurants at reasonable prices. Every Thursday evening the center of village is home to Mae Nam Walking Street, one of the most popular outdoor markets on the island. The weekly market is only a couple of hundred meters long but it’s packed with plenty of colourful stalls selling the usual fake brand products such as Ralph Lauren and Lacoste polo shirts, T-shirts, jeans and Ray Ban sunglasses, but also handicrafts, new and second-hand clothes, souvenirs, beach wear, toy guitars and real guitar accessories. There are also some food stands selling street snacks like skewers of shrimp or squid or meat cooked on small barbecues, and even a couple of mobile bars offering cocktails from 50 baht. The market is enlivened by improvised road artists play music, either local expats or enterprising Thai teens. Towards the end of the market you’ll find a colourfully Chinese temple which is definitely worth a photo.Read More
