Red Mountain Golf Club in Phuket Island is surely one of Asia's most exciting new courses. Opened since 2007, the golf club is conveniently located in the middle of Phuket Island and managed by the adjacent Loch Palm Golf Club. The new course winds its way through a truly dramatic landscape setting on 1400 Rai of a former tin mine. The path is a standard 18-hole par 72, covering just under 7,000 yards in total from the pro tees, making it a challenging but enjoyable course for players of different levels. The course has been cleverly routed to take advantage of a huge variety of landforms and dizzying elevation changes. Scars left from the tin mine era have been imaginatively incorporated into the overall scheme, creating a unique character at the same time as establishing an indelible link with an important era in the Island's past. Designer Jon Morrow and co-designer Al Tikkanen, have created a highly strategic and challenging 6,900 yard lay out to complement the shorter and gentler old Loch Palm Course.
