Koh Samui is famous not only for being a beautiful island but also for its lively nightlife and party atmosphere. While there are plenty of quiet spots around the whole island, the area parallel to Chaweng Beach is home to Samui's greatest concentration of nightlife venues. Probably the oldest and most famous of them all is the Reggae Pub. When it first opened in 1988, the Reggae Pub was just a small wooden beach bar on Chaweng Beach. Since then it has grown to become an enormous venue with dance floor, pool tables and big screens showing live sports. This Samui's long standing institution is located in a huge barn-like structure on the shore of the inland Chaweng Lake. The nightclub features an original architecture like an unfinished two-storey building with only three walls and partially covered. The central main dance floor is surrounded by benches and tables where you can enjoy drinks and listen to music played by live bands or DJs. As the name suggests, the resident band’s play list includes mostly Reggae music, with some Top 40 dance hits and old 70s-80s songs. After midnight, the sounds switch to House and Techno played by local or international DJs. Despite being the second largest nightclub in Samui, after the Green Mango Club, it is really filled every night of the week, especially from 23:00 onwards. Directly outside the club, next to the giant electric guitar, the associated Reggae Restaurant serves Thai and international seafood dishes.Read More
