Mae Haad

Mae Haad is a beautiful, isolated beach on the north-western coast of Koh Phangan. About 800 meters long and rather wide, it's one of the island’s most stunning beaches. Surrounded by shallow crystalline water, it has beautiful white sand, amazing sunset views over Koh Ma and some of the best snorkeling and diving spots on Koh Phangan. Koh Ma is the tiny island that lies jut opposite the north edge of beach which you can reach on foot at low tide thanks to a sandbar. The water and beautiful coral reef that surround the island are protected as a marine park because they are rich in sea life, with frequent sightings of turtles and small reef sharks. On the tiny island there is also a resort. Quiet and chilled out, Mae Haad is one of Koh Phangan’s least developed beaches. While previously had a rather challenging access, it's now more easily accessible thanks to the road recently built, but it still remains a stunning uncrowded beach. There is a small village building up behind it with restaurants, bars, accommodation, some shops and a mini market, ATMs and a few dive shops. Accommodation ranges from mid-sized four star luxury resorts to small beachfront bungalows, many of which are quite affordable. Although Mae Haad is quiet and peaceful, there’s a lot to do on the beach. Restaurants and bars are plentiful and serve Thai and Western cuisine at affordable prices. The dive shops offer snorkeling tours to nearby Koh Ma, as well as dive day trips to popular sites around Koh Phangan and Koh Tao.
