Ao Thong Nai Pan is a large sheltered bay on north-eastern coast of Koh Pha Ngan. In the bay there are two crescent shaped beaches surrounded by crystal turquoise water from one side and by tall palm trees from the other. Thong Nai Pan Noi is the smallest beach to the north. About 500 meters in length, this palm-lined beach hosts some of most luxurious five-star resorts in Koh Phangan, although there are even more cheap accommodations lined up the golden sandy strip. Offering great restaurants, beach activities, varied accommodation options and a softly nightlife, it's very popular with families and couples. About 900 meters long, Thong Nai Pan Yai is the longest beach to the south. The accommodations are more spaced out here, as the village is further away from the shore, though there are a few restaurants and resorts set just behind the beach. As result, it's quieter than the smaller sister. The beach has beautiful white sand, clear shallow waters and cheaper accommodations. The large concrete road leading to Ao Thong Nai Pan through mountainous jungle starts from Baan Tai village near 7-Eleven minimart. Travel time by car or motorbike is about 30 minutes. Private taxi from Thong Sala pier to Thong Nai Pan beaches costs about 800 Baht for one way trip, while by a shared songtaew will cost you about 300 Baht. A rather slow alternative to get there is by longtail boat from Haad Rin. Between mid January to late October there is also a boat service operates by Thong Nai Pan Express that runs from Ao Thong Nai Pan Yai to Koh Samui.Read More
