Karon Temple Market

Karon Temple Market is the most popular and largest weekly market in Karon Beach. The market takes place twice a week, Tuesday and Friday, on the 12,000sqm ground surrounding the Wat Suwan Khiri Khet, which is the beautiful Buddhist temple situated in the heart of Karon village, about 500 meter away from the Karon Circle. Like most outdoor markets on the island, the market begins in the late afternoon when temperatures become more pleasant and attracts hundreds of local and foreign visitors. Karon Temple Market is a smaller version of the most famous Phuket Weekend Market held in Phuket Town every Saturday and Sunday. Strolling amidst the labyrinth of stalls, you’ll find the usual touristy offerings like fluorescent T-shirts, bright hues clothes, bags, scarves, sarongs, Muay Thai shorts, pirate objects, swimsuits and beachwear. In addition to the usual clothing articles, there are a few stalls selling tourist-oriented items such as original objects handcrafted by Thai artists, flower-shaped soap carvings and handmade souvenirs. Other sellers offer body care products, such as aloe vera, coconut oil, cosmetics, perfumes and natural skin treatment products. Throughout Thailand, where there is an open air market there is food to eat and on this side the Karon Market does not disappoint the visitors' expectations. The large section dedicated to food and fresh fruit is located toward the temple’s main entrance. The small stalls sell all kinds of local delicacies and Thai street snacks, including skewers of shrimp or squid cooked on small barbecues, beef and pork snacks on sticks, other sellers offer noodle soups, Pad Thai, fruit shakes, sushi, desserts and even fried insects.Read More
