Opened since 1998, the Royal Chiang Mai is one of the most beautiful Chiang Mai's golf courses. Designed by Peter Thompson, five times British Open Champion, the course's design is reminiscent of a traditional British Parkland course with some interesting “links” additions. Located around 40 minutes directly north of Chiang Mai, the layout is well-suited for the amateur and professional golfer alike. The most striking feature if the golf course itself is the abundance of greenery and mature tress whilst still keeping in harmony with the natural scenery and countryside. The par-72, 7,200-yard course is heavily tree-lined and water hazards are in play on almost every hole. The “Rough” is true to the meaning of the word. From the very back “blue” tees the course can be a severe test, but from the men’s “white” tees the course is pleasant and relaxing. Bunkers use local sand from the Mae Ping River. The greens are Tiff Dwarf Bermuda with Bermuda 419 and Zoysia fairways. The course has a driving range and two practice putting and chipping greens. The clubhouse is a perfect place to unwind after a challenging round of golf, with a terrace overlooking the 18-hole green that acts as a perfect spot for a victory drink with friends. The Royal Resort is a perfect place for a vacation, offering amenities and activities that range far beyond just golf. It reflects the traditional aspects of Northern Thailand where family values are cherished. Indeed, guests at the hotel have easy access to recreational opportunities such as Mountain Biking, Fishing, Jogging, Snooker, Swimming, Gym, Cricket and Gourmet Cuisine. There is also a Spa with a Sauna, Thai Traditional massage, and more. Royal Chiang Mai is the Northern home of The Thailand Cricket Association and is the most picturesque Cricket Pitch in Asia. The Club hosts National and International Cricket events from October to March.
