Koh Rang Yai, also known as Richy Island, is a small island located 5 kilometres off Phuket’s east coast, little north of Phuket Town. The island is best known for its Phuket Pearl Farm that for its beauty. The island has a beautiful sandy beach on the western side, facing Phuket. The beach is very nice, with trees overhanging above, and its shallow water is crystalline and inviting, perfect for swimming. There are few sun beds dotted along the beach. There are several restaurants set back under the trees that serve Thai food and drinks. There is also a smaller beach on the eastern side of the island. You can walk through the coconut groves to reach it. This tiny island can be circumnavigated in just over 15 minutes. The forested interior has some good trails for hiking. The best way to explore Koh Rang Yai is to hire a mountain bike. The Phuket Pearl Farm is at the centre of the main beach.
