Tup Kaek, also spelled Tubkaek, is one of Krabi's less-known beaches. The pristine and secluded beach is located approximately 28 km west of Krabi Town, just 4 km north of Khlong Muang Beach and no more than 25 minutes drive from Ao Nang. Almost unknown until a few year ago, the beach is aiming up market with five-star and boutique hotels like the luxurious Banyan Tree Krabi and the Phulay Bay Ritz-Carlton Hotel, which can be seen in the initial and final scenes of the movie Hangover 2. However, along the beachfront there are also a few cheaper accommodations, as well as some restaurants offering excellent seafood dishes of Southern Thai cuisine. The beach itself is quite short, no more than 600 meters, and has a beautiful white sand and crystal clear waters, quiet and very shallow even when the tide is high. From this picturesque and secluded beach you enjoy the most stunning views across to the Hong Islands. Apart from the few restaurants there is not much else to offer outside the resort complexes, unless you go to Klong Muang Beach. For those who are adventurous the beach sits at the base of the Kao Hang Nak Natural Forest, where you will find walking trails and a view point at the top, which offers a unique panorama over Krabi Province after a strenuous two hours and half steep hike. Definitely Tup Kaek Beach is an ideal destination for those seeking a quiet beach away from the busy and crowded beaches of Ao Nang and Railay.
