Koh Bulon Leh, or Koh Bulon Lae, lies in the Andaman Sea off the coast of Southern Thailand, about one and a half hour from the mainland by ferry. Located no more than 16 km north of Tarutao's northernmost tip, the small island is not part of Tarutao Marine Park, in fact it is under the protection of Mu Ko Phetra National Park, nevertheless it is easily accessible with the usual ferry service that departs from Pak Bara Pier in La-ngu District and serves the whole Tatutao Archipelago. In high season, from 1st November to 1st May, thanks to the Andaman Route you can also travel until the tiny island from Phuket or Phi Phi Islands, and vice versa, without ever setting foot on land. The stunning island is an untouched small paradise, one of the most beautiful islands in the southernmost part of Andaman Sea. Almost unknown until a few years ago, Koh Bulon Leh is still outside the mass tourism, the facilities are essential and has a limited number of accommodation, so it is strongly recommend booking your stay in advance especially during December and February. There are no ATMs, banks or hospitals, any serious medical issues will require a boat trip to the mainland. On the island there are a few small shops, a school, a small village including a small community of Sea Gypsies or Chao Leh, and a tiny police stations inside a bungalow located near the school. The few number of fantastic seafood restaurants and the lovely bungalow resorts are directly located on the white sandy beach Only a resort has 24-hour electricity provided by generator, while others make use of generators only in the evening and often only for a few hours. Most accommodation is very basic, WiFi is limited and the nightlife is virtually non-existent. Koh Bulon Leh preserves its tranquillity; visitors arriving here appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and spend their days on its fantastic beach surrounded by crystal clear waters. If you want you can easily make a trip around the island or rent a boat for a few hours or the entire day for fishing and snorkelling.Read More
