Recently refurbished the Phuket Aquarium is a window that allows the view of marine species that you will find in the Andaman Sea, a good opportunity to spend some time to learn more about the amazing sea world. With over 30 tanks with salt or fresh water, you can observe thousands of tropical species. The main attraction is a large tank with a tunnel running through the center. You will find yourself surrounded by snappers, groupers, wrasses, sharks, and many other fishes. One of the best times to visit the tunnel is around 11.00. when the subs feed the fishes. Some of the most interesting tanks are those devoted to eels, crabs and shrimp. Other large tanks contain sea turtles, with a section dedicated to the recovery of injured specimens. The Phuket Aquarium is part of the Phuket Marine Biological Center, an area of about eight acres on the waterfront of the south east coast of Phuket dedicated to education, research, protection and recovery of marine species.
