Wat Muo Taw is a small located in the center of Mae Hong Son, just next to the Wat Phra Non at the base of Doi Kong Mu, the hill where the Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu lies. The temple itself does not arouse great interest by tourists, except that it is one of the starting points to reach the most popular temple on the top of adjacent hill. The temple is made from a small ubosot and a typical open-front wooden viharn aligned along a garden, behind there is a walled platform with six large chedis, as well as the long steep staircase that leads to the summit of the Doi Kong Mu guarded by two massive Singha, lion statues in Shan style. Among the two possible paths reaching the summit, this is definitely the easiest.
Admission fee & Opening hours: The temples are open daily from 07:30 until 18:00. Admission is free, although donations are suggested.
