The Thai People are known as one of the most friendly and tolerant peoples in the world, in part thanks to the philosophy of Theravada Buddhism, the basis of the Thai culture. "The thing that costs the least and does the most is a pleasant smile", this simple phrase shows the synthesis of Thai lifestyle. Before your arrival in Thailand is good to know a few simple rules. Our habits, which seem obvious, sometimes are in contrast with the culture of this wonderful people. Respect for others is a basic rule for Thai, some of our usual behaviors are not very appreciated by the Thai and could be form of embarrassment. We should not assume that our common habits are the norm in the rest of the world.
