Krabi International Airport
Krabi International Airport, IATA code KBV, serves the province of Krabi. Located on Highway 4, it is 10 km east from the city limits, 15 km from the center of Krabi and 40 km from Ao Nang. Krabi Airport serves as a gateway to the beach resorts in Ao Nang, Railay, Koh Lanta and Phi Phi Island. The new international terminal, built on four floors, was opened in 2006, and can accommodate 600 passengers in arrivals and 600 passengers in departures; its new track has been lengthened to 3,000 meters. Designed for three million passengers, the number has already been exceeded, a new expansion will bring the capacity of airport to five million passengers per year. There is an air-conditioned bus service connecting the airport to Krabi, Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara Pier. The ticket for Krabi costs 90 THB, while to Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara costs 150 THB. From the international Airport it is also possible to reach Krabi or Ao Nang with minivan, taxi and limousine services. The approximate cost for a taxi ride until Krabi downtown is a 500-600 THB, 800-900 THB for Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara beaches. Both for the taxi and minivan services you are forced to buy the ticket at one of the two kiosks located inside the terminal. Do not think about going out terminal and trying to do it yourself to spend less, nobody will listen and you will have to return sadly back. If you want to spend less, the cheap shared songthaews pass on the main road, just outside the airport area, and allow you to reach Krabi with a modest price of 30-50 THB.
