Pattaya Railway Stations
Pattaya boasts two railway stations located in the east side of Sukhumvit Highway. Both stations are managed and overseen by the State Railway of Thailand, SRT. Located to the north of the junction of Central Pattaya Road with Sukhumvit Road, about 3 kilometres from central Pattaya, Pattaya Train Station is the main stop in the city. It is a class 3 railway station located 155.145 km southeast from Hua Lamphong Railway Station in Bangkok. Pattaya Train Station opened in July 1989 as part of the Eastern Line Chachoengsao Junction-Sattahip Port section. There are local minibuses and motorcycle taxi services waiting around the station to take passengers anywhere in the Pattaya City area. To board the train at this station, passengers must purchase tickets in advance. The ticket office is open from 08:00 to 16:00. Pattaya Tai Train Station is a small station without ticket office located about 3 km further south. It is closer to Jomtien, near the Sukhumvit Road-Thepprasit Road intersection. On Mondays to Fridays, a train runs once a day from Bangkok to Pattaya stations. The 3rd class train (non-airconditioned) departs at 06:55 am from Hua Lamphong Railway Station at 06:55am and arrives at in Pattaya Train Station at 10:34am, and then continues to Pattaya Tai Train Station and Sattahip. From Pattaya Train Station it departs again for Bangkok at 02:20pm and terminates at Hua Lamphong Railway Station at 06:15 pm.
NOTE: Although the website has pricing for 1st and 2nd class you should only expect 3rd class with no air conditioning.
New Weekend Train Bangkok - Pattaya In an effort to draw more tourists to the city, the authorities of State Railway of Thailand have announced a new air-conditioned train service running from Bangkok to Pattaya slated to begin service in March. The new train will reach its destination faster than regular trains of almost one hour, with more comfort, air-conditioned and more comfortable seats. The service will be available on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays only, with six stops en route. The six stops will be located near the Sriracha Tiger Zoo, North Pattaya, Pattaya Floating Market, Yanasanwararam Temple, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden and the Plutaluang Railway Station. Shuttle services to nearby tourist attractions will be available at each station. Schedule will be twice a day, departing from Hua Lamphong Railway Station in Bangkok aprox. at 6:30am, reaching Pattaya at around 9:00am, while leaving the resort city at 3:50pm, being back in the capital at 6:50pm. Train tickets will include transfers via shuttle bus and guided tours with the SRT expected to announce prices in the coming weeks.
